Safety is a core value at McMahon Services. We strive to ensure all employees are safe and injury free. Our safety record, capabilities and ability to assist to improve the safety standards of our clients, customers and contractors is a key competitive advantage. Our core company motto is ‘Zero Harm’.

Employees at McMahon Services are taught to manage their own safety and that of their colleagues to promote an injury free environment. Specific targets are set, and continuous audits of practices and procedures allow us to review our progress and ensure we remain leaders in developing safety initiatives.

Safety Initiatives

McMahon Services is pro-active on safety management and has instigated a number of initiatives to ensure continuous improvement in our safety performance including:

  • Improving identification, assessment and control of risks
  • Increasing training and supervision
  • Improving communication to provide a more open, frank and responsive environment
  • Emphasising Health and Safety issues in daily Site Safety Toolbox Meetings
  • Detailed and effective incident investigation
  • Comprehensive rehabilitation programmes for injured employees
  • Increased performance monitoring including regular Safety Reviews, Audits and Inspections

Safety Recognition

Safety Achiever Bonus Scheme (SABS) is a WorkCover (SA Govt.) initiative which recognizes employers who are focused on the achievement of outcomes through a Business Management Systems approach to Occupational Health, Safety and Welfare, and Injury Management. McMahon Services is proud to have been awarded SABS Level 3 status, the highest achievement this program offers, which is testimony to the contribution all employees have made to our safety culture.

McMahon Services has developed and implemented a compliant and effective Integrated Safety Management System, which is founded on Australia Standard AS/NZS 4801:2001  (Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems).

A key element in the management of our safety programme is the continuous review of our performance, enabling the setting of goals for driving improvement. McMahon Services’ approach is to seek to create a mindset and an environment where people believe it is possible to work injury free.
